Role & Responsibilities

We are looking for camp leaders !

Snow Activities

We have many fun snow activities, such as snow banana boat, snow tubing, snowshoe trekking, and igloo building. Your role as a camp leader is to play with the students and create a fun environment.

Leadership programs

One of your roles as a camp leader is to teach the skills of leadership to Jr. High School students. Camp leaders are preferred to have experience in the practice of leadership. (Alumnis of the IB curriculum are suitable for this role!)

PRESENTATION

Japanese Jr. High School students would love to learn about different cultures. So, you will have an opportunity to give a presentation on your life, background, culture, and/or your future to these students in English.

Communication

It is important for camp leaders to communicate frequently with Japanese Jr. High School students in English. English communication is one of the most valuable aspects of this camp program.

Outdoor Activities

Compass work class, white-out navigation, self-guided trekking program, and avalanche rescue training are in our camp program. You will not only teach but learn those skills in this camp.

Lead the camp

A unique aspect of this camp program is that camp leaders will be leading most of the programs. The adult staff and mountain guides are only there to support camp leaders. That way, the students can see and learn the principles of leadership.

Full board conpensation

Camp leaders will stay in a cozy mountain lodge.

The voice of Previous Camp leaders

My impression of Pole Pole was very different. It was very free and open compared to other camps. Of course it comes with it’s advantages and disadvantages. We were able to hone our leadership skills and team work with every single person. Other camps does not provide that opportunity to it’s fullest and may not allow the participants to improve to their fullest potential.

The voices of previous camp leaders

I liked this camp more because it made me feel special and inclusive. The students could talk more too so it was very inclusive.

Pema, Bhutan

Overall, the camp activities were fun and engaging. One thing that can be improved about the winter camp in the future is the level of speaker versus audience interaction. Although the audience did a great job in answering questions asked by the speaker there is always room for improvement.

Ricardo, Ecuador
